Job Title: Buyer
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: £28,000 - £35,000
Location: South Derbyshire

Premier Engineering have partnered with a engineering powerhouse based in South Derbyshire who are looking for a Buyer to join their team.
The Buyer will be responsible for procurement of products and services. Main focus is to deliver significant cost savings whilst maintaining both quality and reliability of the products/services sourced.
Key Responsibilities of the Buyer
  • Manage procurement requirements for engineering projects, services, training and day to day operational requirements.
  • Manage and maintain service contracts.
  • Identify and engage appropriate suppliers and effectively manage the relationships.
  • Identify and record cost savings and supplier performance in line with proper quality controls.
  • Monitor project costs, ensuring goods and services are on budget and on time.
  • Implement long term agreements with suppliers where appropriate.
  • Manage and resolve Supplier Non-Conformances.
  • Appraise, review and manage Suppliers and Sub-contractors.
  • Manage and report on yearly and half yearly stock control.
  • Review and maintain procedures and ensuring compliance.
Knowledge and Skills of the Buyer:
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel, particularly the use of formulas.
  • At least 2 years Procurement experience (preferably in engineering industry).
  • Global sourcing knowledge
  • Proven procurement experience in a purchasing or supply chain role
  • Confident communicating with the wider business and an effective telephone manner
  • Can demonstrate full ownership for analytical decisions
  • Strategic Sourcing - Establishes strategic sourcing strategies for complex and critical categories by reviewing pertinent analyses, utilising past experience, and recommending a strategic approach.
  • Supplier Management - Works with suppliers to improve their quality and cost structures by providing feedback to suppliers, educating suppliers, and creating joint initiatives.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making.
