My client works within chemical manufacturing and they are looking to take on an experienced Engineering Project Manager (Mechanical / Chemical), on a permanent basis, in the Essex area.
The Engineering Project Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- HNC/ HND/ Degree qualified or similar in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
- Have obtained a relevant project management certification – PRINCE2, PMP or Lean Project Management
- Have excellent technical knowledge from working in a similar mechanical/ chemical environment
- Have the ability to plan, manage and also control engineering projects
- Problem solving capabilities
- Have the ability to estimate and also control costs
- Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Previous experience working with MS Project or similar would be desirable
- Be flexible to travel to other sites in the UK and to work additional hours when required
- Planning and co-ordinating the delivery of engineering projects on sites in line with relevant regulations (involves Design, Control & Instrumentation, Health & Safety, Finance)
- Taking projects from the initial concept, to design and on time delivery
- Being involved in project scoping, project design, safety and environmental meetings, equipment specification and establishing resources (for example staff, plant and machinery)
- Reporting on project performance against plans and budget and managing timelines
- Identifying and solving any problems that may cause issues or delays
- Training and developing more junior colleagues
- Participating in post completion reviews and implementing process improvement
- Engineering sign-off and then handover to Operations
