Junior Purchasing Engineer - East Sussex

JOB-  Junior Procurement Engineer

LOCATION- East Sussex

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £22,000 - £25,000 per annum

My client design and manufacture a variety of products and they are looking to take on a Junior Procurement Engineer on a permanent basis in the East Sussex area.

The Junior Procurement / Quality Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • NVQ / BTEC / HNC / HND / Degree qualification in Engineering / Logistics or similar
  • Ideally 1 or more years’ experience working in a junior purchasing / logistics or quality type role within a manufacturing environment
  • An appreciation for manufacturing processes and materials would be ideal
  • Be able to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Any previous inspection experience would also be desirable
  • Have good technical/ engineering knowledge and similar experience
  • Be able to work well individually as well as part of a team
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Time management skills
  • Proficiency with using MS Office / 3D CAD such as SolidWorks would be a bonus
The Junior Procurement / Quality Engineer role will involve:

  • Someone who is keen to learn and work in a varied role
  • Working between procurement and also quality / manufacturing
  • Being involved in supplier quality audits
  • Being involved in communicating with vendors
  • Raising purchase orders and monitoring deliveries
  • Reviewing engineering specifications / BOM’s and checking for materials required for assembly
  • Being involved in stock control procedures; assisting with logistics
  • Liaising between design engineers, suppliers and vendors to negotiate contracts to secure the required materials for production
