JOB- Lean Manufacturing Engineer
LOCATION- Southampton, Hampshire
TERM- Permanent
SALARY- £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

We are looking for Lean Manufacturing Process Engineer on a permanent basis in the Southampton area with experience in the manufacturing industry in a fast paced environment. Your main duty will be to drive continuous improvement as well as Project Manage Manufacturing Engineering NPI Projects.


The Lean Manufacturing Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

 

  • Degree qualified in an appropriate engineering or scientific discipline, or be able to demonstrate the equivalent through experience and alternative technical qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role
  • Experience with VSM and other Lean techniques is an advantage
  • Lean manufacturing & problem-solving experience is key
  • Be able to hit the ground running, leading change and developing new ways of working through collaboration
  • Have a challenger mind mentality
  • Thorough attention to detail
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt beneficial
  • Be able to work well alone as well as part of a team
  • Experience working with MRP/ERP systems

The Lean Manufacturing Engineer role will involve:

  • Co-ordinating continuous improvement projects across cross functional teams
  • Analysing current processes for cost reduction and improvement activities
  • Communicating between procurement, suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Assisting in ensuring that standard operating procedures, work instructions, test instructions and control plans are clearly defined, documented and communicated by the best available methods
  • Supporting the transfer of new processes or new products (NPI) from Development to Manufacture
  • Assisting in the Training of operators on new products, processes and equipment
  • New product development & implementing new machines and processes
  • Design of jigs and fixtures to improve existing processes
  • Managing project schedules for New Product Introductions
  • Assisting with planning from time to time when required
  • Creating routings, listing all internal and external operations
