ROLE- Materials Scientist

LOCATION- South Oxfordshire

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £30,000- £50,000 per annum plus benefits (dependent on experience)

My client works within the engineering manufacturing sector, and they are looking to take on a Materials Scientist, on a permanent basis, in the South Oxfordshire area.

The Materials Scientist / Materials Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Degree qualified in Materials Science, Metallurgy or a similar subject
  • Any relevant industry experience working in a similar role such as materials development or manufacturing would be ideal (but Graduates may also be considered for a more Junior role too)
  • Any Six Sigma skills would be desirable but aren’t essential
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work well alone as well as part of a team
  • Be keen to develop as part of a technical team long term
  • Being flexible to travel as part of the role as required
The Materials Scientist / Materials Engineer role will involve:

  • Being responsible for specifications of materials
  • Being involved in managing purchasing support projects
  • Liaising with other colleagues and teams
  • Being part of the Operations and Sourcing strategy
  • Designing and executing testing plans and trails
  • Providing reports as required with recommendations
  • Delivering internal and external presentations when needed
  • Managing supplier technical briefs
  • Reporting on projects
  • Offering support for any failure investigations of materials
