JOB- Principal / Senior Mechanical Engineer - Systems

LOCATION- Hertfordshire

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £40,000 - £50,000 per annum dependent on experience (plus benefits)

My client designs and manufactures a range of equipment within the technology sector and they are looking to take on a Principal / Senior Mechanical Engineer with Systems experience on a permanent basis in the Hertfordshire area.

The Principal / Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Degree BSc / BEng qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Chartered status would be desirable but isn’t essential
  • 7 years’ plus of industry experience is required as a minimum working in a similar Senior or Systems Integration type role
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software- ideally SolidWorks or Siemens NX but other programmes might also be considered
  • Have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Have the ability to produce solutions for mechanical systems for a variety of complex projects
  • Previous experience working with any of the following is desirable: electro-mechanical systems, optical layouts, analysis tools, precision engineering, motor design, rapid prototyping
  • Excellent planning and time management skills

The Principal / Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer role will involve:

  • Working within the current multi-disciplined engineering team
  • Taking technical responsibility on projects including design and development, validation and ensuring that requirements and timings are met
  • Defining system requirements
  • Preparing the required engineering documentation
  • Leading the selection, build, integration and test of systems – including writing test specifications and resolving any design issues that may arise
  • Working with CAD software as and when required for design and development work
  • Being involved in continuous improvement of the R&D processes within the mechanical field
  • Mentoring less experience team members
  • Working within new product development as well as post development support in R&D
