Purchasing Assistant

ROLE- Purchasing Assistant

LOCATION- Camberley, Surrey

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £20,000- £25,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

My client designs and manufactures engineering equipment, and they are looking to take on a Purchasing Assistant on a permanent basis, in the Surrey area.

The Purchasing Assistant will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Experience working in a similar Purchasing, Procurement, Buyer admin or support role
  • Previous experience working within engineering or manufacturing would be beneficial
  • Good knowledge of the different stages of procurement
  • Be confident to speak on the phone with suppliers
  • Be able to pay good attention to detail
  • Be willing to take on training and learn new things
  • Be able to read and follow Bill of Materials
The Purchasing Assistant role will involve:

  • Carrying out procurement and purchasing responsibilities
  • Speaking with suppliers
  • Working closely with other members of the engineering team
  • Assisting with setting up and defining process of parts coming in
  • Helping organise parcel shipments and also collections
  • Being aware of ongoing later orders
  • Working with the company PDM system; keeping the company log up to date
  • Being involved in part making and kitting parts on arrival
  • Being involved in stock checks
  • Being involved in procuring sales orders
  • Ad-hoc administration duties when needed
