Premier Engineering has engaged with a key client and a leading business specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke Materials Handling, Industrial Weighing and Process Control machinery and systems for a variety of manufacturing industries. Based in Newark, Nottinghamshire we are searching for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (full life-cycle) to join on a permanent basis.

The company has created a successful portfolio of UK and worldwide clients within manufacturing industries ranging from Rubber and Plastics to animal feeds, power generation and recycling.

Our Projects range from single machine supply to total turn-key systems incorporating mechanical, electrical and software design for projects with values from £10K to in excess of £1 million.

Due to recent changes in company circumstances, including increased project sales and potential future growth we are now seeking to expand our in-house engineering team and currently have a vacancy within our engineering design department.

 

Our Requirement:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with both 2D and 3D design experience

The position will require a competent mechanical engineer with experience within the following fields:

  • 2D & 3D mechanical design software (preferred AutoCAD 2D & AutoCAD Inventor)
  • Machine & support structure design
  • Plant layout design
  • Production of manufacture detail drawings
  • Knowledge of fabrication techniques & processes
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, industrial valves, motors & gearboxes
  • Preferred knowledge of materials handling equipment design
  • Stress loading and steel requirement specification
  • Machine assembly & installation supervision
  • Project management
 

Candidate Responsibilities

This is a varied role covering in-house design, configuration and assembly to on site installation supervision and support works within a variety of manufacturing industries.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the overall mechanical design from initial concept to project completion and will be required to liaise closely with the electrical design department and the customer to provide a fully integrated turn-key solution.
