Software Consultant – Bath – £40,000 / £45,000 – Experience required around software – An interest in Fin-tech is helpful - Fully Remote working

I’m working with a Fin-Tech company based in Bath that are looking for their next Digital / Software Consultant. They have a track record for taking on junior consultants & with the help of their internal training & development programme, progressing them through the ranks of management consultant. For over 16 years they have recruited from operational or technical roles in the industry, and through rigorous training and development, as well as practical experience, they have become highly effective consultants.

They pride themselves on a philosophy of consulting with integrity – with their consultants ideally coming loaded with real industry experience within software development / design. Other profiles of interest could include solution architecture experience or be looking for greater challenges through a move into solutions design / architecture.

You will be working directly with their clients, ensuring that their IT projects successfully deliver what their business actually needs and demonstrating the advantages of the specialist approach this client takes. Their services range from defining Enterprise level IT strategies through to single system solution design and software product selection. Some work will be alongside other consultants, but you will often be working independently. Though, you will always have full back up from experienced members of the team.

What you can expect:

  • Learning what a consultant does, and the principles and ethics that sits behind it
  • Understanding why and how businesses change and where consultants help
  • Building the skills required to bring together the different disciplines and stakeholders required to make change a success.
  • Gaining the ability to hold the attention of a senior audience and to convey complex choices using clear explanation and simple graphics.
  • Ensuring that clients are not purchasing “shelf ware”. The deliverables must have a valuable and significant life beyond their delivery.
  • Getting to know the regulatory frameworks that govern and safeguard the industry.
  • You’ll be published in the press and contribute to building thought leadership
  • From proposals and RFPs through to contracts project initiation
  • Understanding the component parts of an effective consulting business

Must Haves:

  • A desire to learn and improve
  • A history of software development & design experience on a range of IT projects using one or more leading development technologies e.g. .NET, java
  • A breadth of technical experience in several of the major technology areas (Databases, Web, Cloud, software product selection & integration, etc.)
  • Experience of Financial Services/Products, Banking, Telecoms, Utilities, Medical or similar regulated industries
  • Experience of analysis and requirements gathering
  • Experience of working both on your own and as part of a team

Nice to haves

  • Experience of acting as an expert/mentor on a project or in a particular technical area
  • Technology or Solution architecture experience
  • Project Management Experience
  • Experience of working for Financial Services or a regulated organisation
  • Experience of client facing/consultancy work
  • Experience of following a methodical, structured approach to change e.g. SDLC
