Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

ROLE- Lead Mechanical Design Engineer   LOCATION- Portsmouth   TERM- Permanent   SALARY- £50,000 - £70,000, dependent on experience   My client designs and manufactures specialist equipment for the Marine industry. They are looking for a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Portsmouth on a permanent basis.   The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes: Be a self-starter, with strong leadership skills and the ability to own projects, work independently and implement your own ideas At least 5 years’ experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position Strong 3D CAD skills with Siemens NX ideally, or similar software PDM / PLM experience would be beneficial Ideally be experienced in Marine, Subsea, Aerospace, Automotive or related industries Knowledge of composites would also be beneficial Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances Excellent communication skills both verbal and written Proficient using MS Office Excellent organisational skills and time management skills Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team   The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve: Using NX for concept design and producing technical drawings Implementing PDM software Being involved in hiring and growing the Design Engineering team Liaising with manufacturing providers Being involved in final assembly of products Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans Updating 3D models and drawings Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs Checking drawings for sign off Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects   If you are interested in this position, please apply with an up to date CV as soon as possible.
