Premier turns 21! This week marks our 21st birthday as a business and what a journey it’s been. Especially after a tough year last year globally for businesses, we are proud to reach this milestone and hope to continue going from strength to strength. Here’s just a few of our milestones and standout achievements along the way:
2000 - Premier is Born!
Andrew Woosnam (now our Chairman) opens the doors to our first Reading office as we operate as a company focusing on just IT Recruitment.
2005 - The formation of our Engineering brand
After great success with our IT brand, we expand our expertise to cover Engineering sectors too! Our Engineering teams have continued to go from strength to strength providing amazing service to clients and candidates.
2007 - We make the move into the Capital city
One office becomes two as we open up our office in London. As of June 2021, we have secured new, modern offices for our London team just in time for Summer!
2012 – Manchester bound!
As we expand further as a business in the UK, we head to the North and open our Manchester office.
2013 – Sunday Times Best Companies Awards – first entry!
This year marked our first entry into the ‘Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For’ lists, placing 13th and our first 3* accreditation with Best Companies. We have now placed in the lists and kept our 3* accreditation for 9 years in a row!
2014 – Thames Valley Business Magazine Awards
Premier wins ‘Management Team of the Year’ in the Thames Valley Business Magazine Awards.
2015 – Birmingham office opens
With offices already in the South, London and the North, we complete our UK office rota by opening up in Birmingham!
2015 – 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain
Premier continue to be among the awards lists, this time being included in the list for ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ for London Stock Exchange.
2015 – The South’s Most Ambitious Companies
Premier Group is included in the list for Decision Magazine’s ‘The South’s Most Ambitious Companies’
2016 - HQ Move
After expanding our teams in our Reading office, we make the move to Abbey Gardens. A more modern and spacious premises, this is definitely a great space to call our HQ!
2016 - The launch of ‘Premier Talks’
We launch our ‘Premier Talks’ event series. Hosting events and meet-ups for tech and digital communities around the globe, we’ve had fantastic speakers from companies such as HubSpot, Conde Nast, Facebook, Accenture and Shiseido.
2016 - Introduction of Wellbeing Week
We introduced our annual Wellbeing Week as we wanted to make a conscious effort to improve the wellbeing and happiness of staff at work. The weeks’ consist of fresh fruit and healthy lunch deliveries, team bonding, professional health check-ups (mental and physical), free weekly gym memberships and yoga sessions.
2017 - Premier goes global!
With demand coming in from clients in the States, we open our first US office in New York which is now going from strength to strength.
2019 – Employee milestone
Now a global business, we reach 100 employees across all of our offices!
2019 – Contractor milestone
Another fantastic milestone achieved, Premier hits 400 contractors out.
2020 – £30 million milestone!
Premier hits a fantastic £30 million in sales!
2020 – Expanding in the States
With the New York office going from strength to strength, it was the perfect time to expand in the US with the opening of our office in Austin. The team have just secured lovely new offices to move in to as well.
2021 - Restructure and promotions
We were absolutely thrilled to announce the promotions of Andrew Thorning to CEO, Uni Patel to CFO and Paul Wheeler to COO.
2021 – 3rd Best Recruitment Company to Work For!
Best Companies introduced a new award for 2021 which saw Premier rated as the third best recruitment company to work for! A fantastic achievement to get when taking into consideration the thousands of recruitment companies in the UK!
2021 - 14th Best Company to Work For in the South East
Premier also placed 14th in the ‘South East’s Top Companies to Work For’ list at the Best Companies awards ceremony.
2021 - 20th Best Mid Sized-Company in the Best Companies Awards
To top of an already amazing 2021 so far, Premier placed a very impressive 20th in the ‘Best Mid-Sized Companies to Work For’ list. This was our first year being in the Mid-Sized category, a brilliant achievement!
What does the future hold for Premier?
After a tough year for businesses globally, we are thrilled to reach the 21 milestone! Having already broken several internal records across all our offices and brands this year, we hope to continue to push ourselves even further.
