Role – Controls Engineer (PLC / Electrical Systems)
Salary – $80,000 - $100,000 per annum
Type – Permanent, Full-time
Location – Boca Raton, FL
My client is a well-established engineering and manufacturing organization with over 15 years industry presence, supporting the design and delivery of heavy-duty industrial equipment and systems. They are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support the development of control architectures, electrical designs, and PLC/HMI software for complex machinery and automation systems.
This role offers long-term stability, exposure to large-scale engineered products, and the opportunity to work within a technically focused, collaborative engineering environment.
The Controls Engineer will have the following attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; alternative technical qualifications considered
- Proven experience programming Allen-Bradley PLC platforms (required)
- Exposure to Siemens PLC systems is beneficial
- Experience with AutoCAD for electrical and controls documentation
- Working knowledge of NEC and industrial electrical standards
- Ability to read and interpret specifications, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Effective communicator, comfortable working within cross-functional engineering teams
The Control System Design Engineer’s role will involve:
- Developing control schemes and selecting appropriate electrical hardware and software
- Designing power and control circuits for heavy-duty industrial equipment
- Developing PLC and HMI programs to support machine operation and system logic
- Creating engineering instructions and defining operating logic
- Selecting electrical components and supporting hardware design decisions
- Supporting basic project coordination activities, including schedules, scope, and task tracking
- Assisting with troubleshooting and continuous improvement of control systems
