This is an exciting opportunity for a Metal Fabrication Manager to join our fast-growing team, based in Galway, Republic of Ireland. The Metal Fabrication Manager will be responsible for leading a team of skilled technical staff and ensuring the successful manufacturing of metal fabrication parts for our battery systems. This role requires a strong technical background in metal fabrication processes, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to effectively coordinate resources to meet production & project deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the metal fabrication area, including all aspects of production, equipment performance, quality control, and safety.
  • Lead a team of metal fabricators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to product specifications.
  • Collaborate with process engineering, design, and production teams to review project plans, blueprints, and specifications, ensuring feasibility and identifying potential improvements.
  • Develop and implement efficient production processes and workflows, optimizing productivity and minimizing waste.
  • Monitor and track project progress, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Sustain constant oversight of work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
  • Manage inventory of materials and supplies, coordinating with the supply chain team to ensure best-price availability.
  • Evaluate and recommend new equipment, tools, and technologies to enhance efficiency and capabilities in the metal fabrication department.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, continuous improvement, and employee development.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring effective communication and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and best practices in high volume metal fabrication, and make recommendations to drive collaboration on process improvements and cost savings.
  • Ensure strong communication between all teams to facilitate exchange of information, manage issue resolution, and implement change and improvements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure repeatable manufacture of product while maintaining quality, safety and environmental standards and achieving cost targets in a timely fashion.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field is preferred. Relevant work experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 10+ years proven experience as a Metal Fabrication Manager or similar leadership role within a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment. Experienced in a production background that thrives on a demanding and challenging environment
  • In-depth knowledge of metal fabrication processes, including welding, cutting, bending, and assembling various metals.
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude, with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Solid understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to metal fabrication operations.
  • Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant software applications.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry advancements and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve production goals.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage all stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, holistically balancing technical, commercial, and relationship considerations.
