Job Title: Tool Stores Co-Ordinator

Purpose of Job

 

As part of the engineering department, you will be responsible for activities in the tool stores. You will manage the stock and liaise with engineers, technicians, and suppliers to ensure the requirements of the business are met. You will support and drive improvements to achieve department targets relative to safety, quality, cost, delivery, people & environment through systemic improvement activities.

 

 

Duties

  • Manage stock to ensure the correct levels are maintained with no stock outs
  • Responsible for placing tooling orders with suppliers
  • Manage suppliers to achieve on time delivery
  • Responsible for the storing and condition of cutting tools
  • Source quotes as requested or required by the business
  • Responsible to ensure the equipment in the stores is kept in good working order
  • Work with technicians and engineers to support the activities of the shopfloor
  • Work with technicians and engineers to drive cost, quality and lead time improvements
  • Set tools when required (training given) in support of shopfloor requirements
  • Update weekly KPI’s
  • Report tool breakages in daily production meetings
  • To work in a IATF16949 environment, upholding the ethics of the company’s quality standards.
  • To have working knowledge of the legislative requirements of Health & Safety, Environmental and Risk Assessment.
  • To perform any other duties reasonably required to achieve departmental and/or Company objectives as deemed appropriate by the Manager / Director responsible.
  • Provide support and training to others as required.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Industry recognised Engineering apprenticeship desired

 

Experience

 

Minimum 5 years’ experience in stores stock control in a manufacturing environment

 

  

Desirable

  • Experience in an automotive, motorsport or aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience of machining and understanding of cutting tools and their applications
  • Able to make a judgement on the condition tools to assess if needs to be replaced or continue using

Required Skills

  • IT literacy, particularly Excel, Word
  • Able to work well with varied number of customers, peers and stakeholders
  • Good communication skills
  • Problem Solving using recognised tools and techniques
