Salary: £40,000 £50,000 per annum

The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to support our commercial and project teams. This pivotal role ensures financial clarity and operational efficiency across all stages of project delivery.

The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping and forecasting skills, with hands-on experience using Xero and Replicon. Youll work closely with the Head of Commercial to enhance financial systems, monitor project profitability, and implement scalable processes that support our growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records across multiple projects (purchase orders, timesheets, invoicing)
  • Ensure timely and accurate client invoicing aligned with contract terms and milestones
  • Manage payments to suppliers and subcontractors, maintaining strong relationships
  • Use Xero for accounting operations, bank reconciliations, and reporting
  • Track time and costs using Replicon to ensure up-to-date project spend
  • Support budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and cost control
  • Collaborate with project managers and quantity surveyors on financial health
  • Assist with month-end and year-end accounts, including audit documentation
  • Contribute to process improvements across financial operations
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and reports to support commercial decisions

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience in project accounting and forecasting
  • Strong analytical skills for cost monitoring and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Xero and familiarity with Replicon
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • High attention to detail and ability to interpret complex financial data

Desirable:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Professional qualifications (ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
  • Experience in construction, engineering, or infrastructure sectors
  • Understanding of UK financial regulations and compliance standards
