Compliance Officer – Permanent, Full-Time (38 hours per week)

We are supporting a growing manufacturing organisation in the search for a Compliance Officer to establish and manage all site-based compliance, quality, health & safety and environmental systems. This is a newly created role offering the opportunity to develop the full compliance framework for a facility entering a key expansion and commissioning phase.


Key Responsibilities

Workshop & Site Compliance

  • Lead the development and implementation of a complete Compliance and QHSE Management System, structured in line with ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.

  • Create, review and maintain essential compliance documentation including policies, procedures, risk assessments, permits and training materials.

  • Design and implement the site commissioning safety and compliance plan in collaboration with engineering, operations and R&D teams.

  • Establish internal audit processes, document control systems and reporting mechanisms suitable for a newly built and evolving operation.

  • Conduct regular compliance and audit reviews with workshop and site management.

  • Maintain and improve the site’s Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure continual compliance.

  • Oversee QA/QC checks throughout commissioning and routine production activities.

  • Ensure the site meets all Health & Safety requirements with robust procedures covering COSHH, DSEAR, PUWER and similar legislation.

  • Lead emergency response protocols, permit-to-work processes and environmental management controls.

  • Promote a strong compliance and safety culture through coaching, training and proactive engagement.

  • Manage the maintenance and regulatory compliance of building systems, including fire alarms, safety systems and scheduled inspections.


Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements

  • Full, valid UK driving licence

  • Experience in compliance or QHSE management within a manufacturing or technical environment

  • Proven ability to develop and embed new compliance systems, procedures and governance structures, ideally during commissioning or scale-up projects

  • Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation (COSHH, DSEAR, PUWER) and ISO Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001)

  • Good understanding of process safety and environmental regulations

  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and support teams across the site
