Role- Engineering Buyer 
Salary- £35,000 - £45,000 (D.O.E)  
Type- Permanent
Location- Bristol


My client design and manufacture electro-mechanical equipment within the Oil & Gas, Railway and Industrial sectors. They are looking to take on an Engineering Buyer, on a permanent basis, in the Bristol area. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to expand their skills within the engineering industry by working for a dynamic, expanding business. 

The Engineering Buyer will ideally have the following attributes:


  • Formal qualification in Engineering (HNC/ HND/ Degree) or have the equivalent work experience with transferable skills
  • Previous experience of contract and cost negotiation and reduction
  • Be confident in developing professional relationships
  • Being able to read from electro / mechanical engineering drawings
  • Any experience within Project Management is desirable
  • CIPS qualification is an advantage but not essential
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Be able to work well alone as well as part of a team

The Engineering Buyer role will involve:


  • Managing and developing the Supply Chain to cost and delivery targets for components and products
  • Working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Identifying areas for continuous improvement
  • Achieving personal annual cost reduction targets
  • Managing a supplier portfolio
  • Minimizing inventory
  • Establishing key relationships with stakeholders
  • Managing the implementation of supply chain projects
  • Identifying suitable suppliers for manufacture of components
  • Negotiating preferential commercial terms
