Premier have partnered with a world leading automotive restoration and EV technology company who are looking for a Mechanical Design engineer to join and assist the interior trims team
 
The Design Engineer will play a key role in developing solutions that strike a critical balance between manufacturability, assembly, cost, function, and elegance.
 
Key Responsibilities of the Design Engineer: 
  • 3D and 2D design of a wide range of items from switch packs, gauges, and levers to entire dash panels using Solidworks
  • Work closely with styling team to develop feasible A and B surfaces, colours, textures and mechanical support .
  • Manage subsystem requirements and gateway approvals to ensure all parts go through proper release process
  • Interface regularly with procurement team to select suppliers, release parts on time, and ensure parts arrive in timely fashion
  • Work with technicians to ensure parts are fit for purpose
  • Work with design lead to find, document and address corrective actions on prototype vehicles
  • Work closely with development team to outline test program for subassemblies and components, and be quick to address any issues that arise during testing
 
Attributes & Qualifications of the Design Engineer: 
 
  • Automotive background (5+ years in relevant experience )
  • Highly proficient with Solidworks
  • Experience with prototype and/or classic vehicles is desirable
  • Discipline with release procedures, drawing and parts tracking
  • Experience working in small, collaborative environments
  • Ability to create and maintain their own momentum in workplace
  • Evidence of lateral thinking in agile environments
  • Strong work ethic and genuine humility
