Role- Production Engineer   

Salary- £35,000- £42,000 per annum dependent on experience (please advise what you would be looking for)

Type- Permanent

Location- Wiltshire

My client design and manufacture products and systems and they are looking to take on a Production Design Engineer, on a permanent basis, in the Wiltshire area.

The Production Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering (HNC/ HND/ Degree or similar) ideally or have the equivalent work experience from time served with transferable skills
  • 4 years’ or more experience working in a similar hands on role in an engineering production / manufacturing environment – have been involved in production, design and process improvement etc.
  • 3D CAD skills with ideally the likes of SolidWorks, SolidEdge or similar and be able to read engineering drawings – they can help develop design skills if needed
  • Previous experience in working with systems design, electronics, or PLC devices ideally
  • Have experience in hands on testing, FMEA and development work
  • Project engineering or management skills preferred
  • Any hydraulic or pneumatic knowledge would be desirable but not essential
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Good MS Office skills are needed too
  • Be able to work well alone as well as part of a team
  • Being flexible to travel if required
The Production Design Engineer role will involve:

  • Working with the engineering and production team
  • Offering production support as well as being involved in new design and R&D overall
  • Utilising production, project management, CAD, testing and prototyping skills
  • Using problem solving tools to help produce solutions for manufacturing
  • Liaising between Engineering and Sales when needed for customer requirements on any quality issues
  • Integrating design solutions into production
  • Being involved in designing new systems and processes to ensure the cost efficient integration of new products
  • Being involved in NPI
  • Designing fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks
  • Always supporting continuous improvement
  • Creating design concepts when required using CAD from concept through to detailed design
  • Undertaking FMEA, DFM and reliability studies
  • Providing technical information to support other departments when needed
