Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Type: Permanent

Location: Coventry, West Midlands (UK & EU Travel involved)

Salary: up to £50K DOE plus Car or Car Allowance

Premier Engineering has engaged with a key client and a world leading manufacturer of Off Highway Machinery. Due to a recent restructure new opportunities have arisen within the engineering divisions. We are currently recruiting for 2 Supplier Quality Engineer’s to join at this exciting time on a permanent basis.

Hours of Work:

Mon -Thurs 08.30-12.30 13.00–17.00 (Plus Flex)

Friday 08.30 - 14.00 (Plus Flex)

Purpose of Role:

To develop the supply chain, focusing on our top 20 supplier with a business driven QCD mentality. Ownership of supplier improvement activities including action plans and glide paths. Management of supplier RCCA, project related parts / PPAP submissions and full engagement with the supply chain from an APQP project perspective and warranty issues driven by field faliures. Drive quality policies, LTA’s, tool lend and warranty agreements.

Deliverables:
  • Develop and manage a quality plan for each of the top 20 suppliers.
  • Establish Quality, Cost & Delivery targets with the top 20 suppliers and manage performance resolving any arising issues within defined target times.
  • Focus on the top 20 suppliers for PPM reduction on product non-conformities, OTDIF improvements, RCCA plans / closures & time open for plant and warranty quality concerns.
  • Working with Procurement, develop LTA’s, Tool lend and warranty agreements with the top 20 suppliers.
Main duties and responsibilities:
  1. Develop, execute and analyse quality procedures & improvements
  2. Establish processes to maintain quality standards
  3. Develop, facilitate, and lead activities focused on risk reduction (current and future)
  4. Manage supplier quality / delivery issue investigation, immediate containment and RCCA
  5. Facilitate STOP methodologies
  6. Ensure suppliers adopt the correct internal quality gate processes
  7. Establish, maintain, analyse and report supplier QCD KPI’s
  8. Lead ECO and NPPD quality activities with suppliers, ensuring changes/new models are delivered according to plan to the correct quality standards. Developing and maintaining the use of timing plans, APQP, PPAP and FMEA etc…
  9. Support Value Engineering (VA/VE) and Cost Reduction initiatives by providing technical and quality liaison throughout the supply chain with the potential deployment of Lean methodologies.
  10. Promote lean / 5s methodologies
  11. Coach & support the supply chain with Quality problem solving activities
  12. Conduct supplier quality & compliance audits (ISO, Product, Process, LPA)
  13. Conduct New Supplier Audits [NSA]
  14. Lead quality improvement Action Plans and Glide paths with poor performing supplier
  15. Escalation of suppliers not engaging in improvement activities driving intervention / new business hold activities
  16. Support plant quality if required
 

Experience
  • Ability to produce and work to timing plans.
  • Previous experience of quality and problem solving techniques.
  • PPAP / APQP experience
  • Supplier QCD experiance
 

Key Skills
  • Previous experience in a Manufacturing environment is essential.
  • An understanding of Lean manufacturing systems.
  • Possess good level of problem solving skills.
  • Possess good communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels within the organisation and externally.
  • Possess good analytical skills and have the ability to think creatively.

  • Quality systems knowledge (ISO 9000)
